Product applications

Product Applications

Our products are part of your everyday life, often without you even noticing.

Alumina – SO143

Metals industry
• Primary aluminium production

Ceramics industry
• Tile manufacturing and as a glaze component

Refractories industry
• Production of refractory fibres

Abrasives
• Fused alumina (corundum) industry, grinding and polishing agents (pastes, discs and grit)

Glass industry
• To increase the strength of glass (high proportion)

Further processing
• Calcination of SO143 at up to 1,400 °C, followed by grinding or screening where required, for use in the ceramics industry

Aluminium hydroxide, wet – SH10

Water treatment
• Aluminium sulfate
• Polyaluminium chloride (PAC) as a flocculant in water treatment

Aluminium salts
• Aluminium fluoride for the production of aluminium metal
• Aluminium chloride for speciality chemicals
• Sodium aluminate as a setting accelerator for concrete in the construction industry

Zeolite industry
• Production of zeolites (additives in detergents and fertilisers)

Further processing

Aluminium hydroxide, dry – SH20

Flame retardants
• Flame-retardant filler

Titanium dioxide
• UV stabilisation, surface treatment of TiO2 crystals

Molecular sieves
• Production of molecular sieves

Catalyst carriers
• Catalyst carriers for crude oil processing in the petrochemical industry

Glass industry
• To increase the hardness of glass (high proportion)

Further processing
• Grinding of SH20 to a finer particle size distribution for use as a flame retardant and as an additive in various products
